| Program Description: |
One of the most important decisions a manager must make is who to hire. Most managers that have been around for a while will admit that at least once or twice in their career they made a hiring decision that they regretted. They rushed the process or took someone that really didn't meet the requirements of the position but they were the best of what was available at the time. Hiring the "Best of the Worst" will always come back to haunt you.
The format will be discussion and lecture based with an opportunity for participants to bring up issues, concerns or ideas that they would like to discuss or share with other participants. We will also encourage participants to bring policies, programs, forms, etc. on the topic at hand to share with other participants. The more we can learn from each other the stronger we all become.
This program will cover the most important elements of developing a hiring process including:
Developing a time line
Recruitment/internal postings
Job descriptions and developing criteria to use in the process
Applications, supplemental applications and screening matrixes
Testing, assessment centers, and job simulations
Interviewing and interview panels
Psychologicals and medicals
Reference checks
Making the final decision and decision matrixes
The job offer
Orientation session for the new employee
Probationary period
Training and development
