The Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services has adopted this standard. The following topics are covered in this excavation competent person training course:\n-Definitions of key terms used in the OSHA excavation standards\n-OSHA requirements for a competent person\n-General hazards associated with trenching and excavation work\n-Requirements for locating and working near underground utilities\n-Dangers associated with water accumulation\n-Access and egress from trenches and excavations\n-Exposure to vehicular traffic and the hazards or working in the street\n-Potential atmospheric hazards and conducting air quality monitoring\n-Soil testing and classification\n-Requirements for protective systems\n-Sloping and benching\n-Shoring\n-Trench boxes\n-An overview of tabulated data for protective systems\n-Competent person inspection requirements and review of a competent person checklist. \nPresenter:  \n \nFred Krablean\nLoss Control Manager \nTarget Audience: \nAny employee who may be involved in trench/excavation operations or overseeing such operations.
