Description: This VIRTUAL training session is designed to provide a practical overview of federal civil rights litigation. We will discuss what to expect if a police officer or other government official is sued and procedural aspects of the litigation, to include depositions and other aspects of discovery. The presentation will also focus on the availability of indemnification and insurance coverage under Wisconsin law. Finally, the presentation will include a high level overview of common Section 1983 civil rights claims and a discussion of available defenses, with a specific focus on qualified immunity and recent legal developments related to that important defense.
