VIRTUAL EVENT: Bloodborne Pathogens: Identifying Risk and Preventing Transmission

Bloodborne pathogen exposure is a serious health risk, and employees may require some specific tools to mitigate that risk. Those tools include learning what bloodborne pathogens are, how they are exposed to them, and how to properly protect themselves. By the end of this program, participants will be able to:
- Recognize common sources of bloodborne pathogens found in the workplace
- Utilize appropriate control measures
- Perform a proper spill clean-up procedure
Target Audience: Protective service employees, laborers, pool staff, maintenance workers, janitorial staff, and anyone who may be exposed to blood or other potentially infectious materials.
PRESENTER:

Matt Ackerman, Senior Safety & Risk Management Specialist
Matt earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational and Environmental Safety and Health with an emphasis in Environmental Management from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. After obtaining his degree, Matt joined Cities and Villages Mutual Insurance Company in 2015 as a Safety and Risk Management Specialist and was promoted to Senior Safety & Risk Management Specialist in 2025. Matt is responsible for providing comprehensive loss control and risk management services for municipalities throughout Wisconsin. He acquired his Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation and is also a nationally certified playground safety inspector.
