Government employees, elected officials, public information officers, department heads, and subject matter experts are increasingly expected to communicate with the public through traditional media, social media, public meetings, and online platforms. This introductory course explores why media training is essential in government, how public statements can impact trust and credibility, and the foundational principles every public servant should understand before speaking with reporters or representing their organization publicly.
PRESENTER:
Brent Kyzer-McHenry

Brent is the Manager of Communications and Public Information Officer for the City of Middleton, Wisconsin, with more than 25 years of experience in government communications, public affairs, media relations, emergency management, and crisis communications.
