Work Zone and Certified Flagger (In-Person)

Work Zone and Certified Flagger (In-Person)

April 8, 2026

Non-Member Class Fee: $100.00

Employees who work in traffic face many hazards. The more they understand and apply work zone traffic control techniques, the safer they will be. This program will be an informational session with practical application exercises.

This program will cover:

  • Application of MUTCD guidelines
  • Placement of signs and warning devices
  • Appropriate distances for signs and cones
  • Closing of traffic lanes
  • Mobile vs. non-mobile work zones

Participants will be educated in work zone safety principles and guidelines. Learn about safe flagging operations and applications for urban and rural situations and for low-speed and high-speed roadways.

Group exercises will give you an opportunity to try out what you learn and discuss the “how to” with other members of the class and the instructors. We will also cover reasonable methods of applying these principles for the scenarios that city/village employees are likely to encounter.

These courses do provide flagger training in sufficient depth and length to meet WisDOT flagger certification requirements for work on state and connecting highways.

A light breakfast, lunch, and beverages will be provided.
